Bhel Puri

Bhelpuri is another savory snack that belongs to chaat family. Bhelpuri is thought to have originated within Gujarati cafes (though it is not clearly mention) and Bombay Street stalls, but now it is eaten in most of the part of India. It is made with puffed rice mixed with tangy, minty and garlic chutney and vegetable of your choice. You have to serve immediately to prevent puffed rice from getting soggy.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups puffed rice
  • ½ cup fine sev
  • ½ cup crushed papdi
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato finely chopped
  • 1 medium boiled potato cubed
  • 1 green chili finely chopped
  • Date-tamarind chutney
  • Mint chutney
  • Garlic chutney
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Chaat masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander for garnish
  • Sev to garnish

Instructions:

  • Mix papdi, onion, tomato, potato, chili, sev with puffed rice.
  • Add chaat masala, salt, lemon juice, all chutneys (according to you taste). Mix well.
  • Sprinkle chaat masala, sev and coriander over bhel mixture. Serve immediately with whole papdi.

Tips: You can add raw mango, moong sprouts, chana, peanuts, vegetables like bell peppers and corn. Serve immediately or else bhel mixture will get soggy.
